Frequently asked questions
What is privileged access management (PAM)?
PAM controls the accounts that can change or read critical systems: administrators, service accounts, vendors. It makes sure these accounts are used only by approved people, for approved tasks, with passwords users never see and a record of every session.
Do we need to install agents on our servers?
No. WALLIX PAM is agentless and proxy-based. Users connect through the Bastion with their usual RDP or SSH client, or from a browser, and nothing is installed on the targets.
How long does a typical WALLIX PAM deployment take?
The platform itself can be installed in days. Overall timelines depend on how many users and targets you onboard and how many integrations you need. We plan onboarding in waves, starting with the highest-risk accounts, and agree the schedule during the design phase.
Can WALLIX run in our cloud or as SaaS?
Yes. WALLIX runs on-premises as a virtual or hardware appliance, in public cloud, in a hybrid model, or as SaaS through WALLIX One.
Does WALLIX work with industrial systems like PLCs and SCADA?
Yes. OT.security by WALLIX (PAM4OT) supports VNC for SCADA and DCS consoles and carries industrial protocols such as S7, PROFINET, Modbus, DNP3 and IEC 61850 through Universal Tunneling.
We already have a PAM tool. Can you migrate us?
Yes. We migrate accounts, targets and policies from other PAM tools or jump-server setups, and run both in parallel during cut-over where needed.

How is WALLIX licensed?
By named users or by resources, as a perpetual license with maintenance or a yearly subscription. Remote Access and MFA are licensed per named user. See the licensing page for details.
